Scholarships and Awards

The University of Calgary offers many scholarships, awards and bursaries for high school students entering their first year of university, continuing undergraduate students, international students and transfer students.

Entering High School Students

For high school students entering their first year of university, there is a general high school awards application form available once students have registered and received their U of C ID number, that submits students for consideration for all awards offered by the University of Calgary. This application form is typically available at the beginning of November through the online Student Centre (PeopleSoft). Continuing Undergraduate Students

The University of Calgary offers many awards and scholarships to continuing undergraduate students entering any year of study apart from their first year. There is a general application form that submits students to all U of C continuing undergraduate awards. The application form is available on the online Student Centre (PeopleSoft) on June 1, and application deadline is August 1. International Students

For international students, scholarships and awards are typically available from the goverment of or a designated agency within the student's own country, and students are advised to contact the appropriate agency in their area regarding the available of such awards. However, the University of Calgary does offer a series of awards for international students for both entering students (directly from high school) and continuing students who are enrolled full-time in an undergraduate degree program. Transfer Students

Transfer awards are offered to students entering the University of Calgary who have received transfer credit for the equivalent of at least eight half courses (24 units) completed at another post-secondary institution or for University of Calgary students returning from an exchange programs with tranfer credits equivalent to at least four full courses completed at their host institution. The tranfer awards online application is available at the beginning of September on the online Student Centre (PeopleSoft) and is due October 1. Athletic Awards

The University of Calgary Student Awards and Financial Aid office, in consultation with the Department of Athletics offers awards to student athletics participating on various varsity athletic teams. Student athletes should talk to their team's head coach about available awards, the application forms, and their eligibility for the offered awards. External Awards

There are many external awards available to entering students and continuing undergraduate students. The awards are administered by individuals, companies or organizations independent of the U of C. The Student Awards and Financial Aid office provides a pdf document with a list of some external awards. They also list various other awards and places to look for external awards and scholarships.
