The Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Calgary offers undergraduate B.Sc. (Bachelor of Science) degrees in both physics and astrophysics offered in two streams: majors and honours.
The key feature of our programs is the strong focus on computer and laboratory techniques, in addition to all of the key basic physics and math. The main motivation for this focus is to provide you with many of the skills that you will need in your future career.
We also offer courses in computational physics, as well as a multi-year Applied Laboratory course on top of the regular lab work associated with theory courses, to help you gain valuable laboratory techniques and critical thinking skills.
There is also the option of enrolling in an interdisciplinary degree program with a strong physics component. These include a B.Sc. in Environmental Science with a concentration in physics (administered jointly by the Faculties of Science and Social Sciences) and a B.Sc. in Chemical Physics (run by the Department of Chemistry).
