Physics and Astronomy
For the first time this year the Department of Physics and Astronomy is offering one of our physics courses in French as well as in English. This fall PHYS 303, a general-interest course titled 'Quantum Mysteries and Paradoxes' or 'Mystères et paradoxes de la physique quantique' has two lecture sections, a larger English lecture section, and a smaller French lecture section. This course aims to explain basic quantum phenomena for students outside the physical sciences. Topics covered will include wave-particle duality, quantum interference, as well as the paradoxes of entanglement and quantum nonlocality.
The lecture section in French is part of Flip – French Language Instruction Program, and is a great way for students who have taken French immersion in High School, or who speak both French and English, to continue their university education instruction in French without doing an entire French program. The small French lecture section will also allow for a much higher level of interaction between students and instructor, giving the students a unique opportunity to learn about the quantum mysteries of our world.
For students wishing to enroll in PHYS 303 in French (L02) visit your PeopleSoft Student Centre account and enroll as you would for any other course.
