Submitted by ewmerth on Mon, 02/11/2008 - 12:17pm.

The Chemistry and Physics Olympiads are designed to give high school students interested in physics the opportunity to compete against other talented students from across Canada and around the world.

Students must sit several written examinations along with additional laboratory exercises and examinations to evaluate students from across Canada. The top 10-15 students will then be invited to the National Olympiad Finals in held yearly in Ontario or Quebec.

The students who make it to the Finals are Canadian teams are selected to compete in the International Olympiad for Physics held in a different location around the world each year. The top physics students from 80 countries around the world meet in a bid to win bronze, silver or gold medals. This competition along with the National Physics Olympiad Finals is a great way to meet other people who share a similar passion for physics.

The department intends to train students for the annual Physics Olympiad.
